Quentin's Counsel is dedicated to my little man: Quentin.  I feel that any advice on here is advice he would want other hedgies to have, so that's just what this site has become: Quentin's Counsel. 

That said, I am a new hedgehog owner myself and I am learning as I go along. The information I am providing here is a compilation of things I've found in my research, as well as things that I've learned in my short ownership time. I am NOT an expert. But the information I have on this site is all true to the best of my knowledge. If you have any questions/comments about it whatsoever, please email me by using my contact form. I decided to put this site together as I organized information for myself. I found that there was a lot of information out there on different sites and forums, but none of them had everything totally put together and I was having to sort through different forum posts and different pages to find bits and pieces of the information I was trying to locate. I started a notebook where I was writing down all the information, and it started to get so cluttered and messy that I wasn't sure what to do next. Around that time, my boyfriend bought webhosting and a subdomain, so I decided I'd try giving site-building a shot in hopes of getting an easy-to-follow website that new owners could use for a reference. This website was born from there.

The site is mainly aimed toward people in the United States, because that is where I'm from and what I know the most information about. There is the possibility of later expanding to include other countries, especially if I get some requests for it. Please let me know if you're from somewhere other than the States and would like to see more info dealing with your country.

I know that "it" is a sensitive subject for a lot of people when it comes to gender. Up front, I will tell you that I often refer to hedgies on this site as "it". Please do not be offended. The reason for this is that I hope to be able to address a wide variety of new owners, and there is no way I could know if that person has a male or female. I find saying "he/she" and "him/her" constantly to be tedious when the phrase occurs so often in sentence after sentence, which tended to be the case on many of my pages. So instead of making pages harder to read, I felt that using "it" would be a better option. By no means would I call an animal that normally upon finding out the gender, it's just that here "it" flows much better than "he/she" in most cases. I mean no offense by it, nor am I one of those people that calls an animal "it" all the time, rest assured.

All the links and banners on this site were carefully selected. None of them are auto-generated from an outside source. If I felt that they would be time well spent for visitors here and that they were a good cause with good information, I put them on the site. They were all definitely carefully chosen, and you should feel confident about their quality if you choose to visit them.
