| Ways to freshen a room without compromising respiratory systems |
|
Air fresheners such as plugins, scented oils, scented candles, and sprays are not recommended for hedgehog health because respiratory systems are too sensitive to handle the strong smells. You should really stay away from them. Some hedgies can't even handle the scent of laundry detergent. (Please note that you don't have to use unscented laundry detergents if your hedgie hasn't had any problems; some are just more sensitive than others, and this is just an example of how sensitive some can be.)
- Alternatively, buy an Arm & Hammer Fridge-n-Freezer Odor Absorber. This has no scent and won't make a mess. - If you use liners, wash them with vinegar. (If there's really a smell, soak in hot water and vinegar for 30 minutes before turning wash cycle on.)
All of these ways are considered hedgie-safe, tried and true. |
